Artist Statement

I relocated back to Texas in 1996, in search of open skies. I am fascinated by the way the changing light brings out varied and unexpected color in the Texas landscape or any landscape. I feel that I have connected with the world around me and myself through the continual shifts and changes. Change is the one constant that connects us all.

I am also motivated to continue honing and expanding my skill set to breath new life into my understanding and of representational art so that I may both instruct other students and patrons in the appreciation of representational art. To keep alive, the ways of the master artists and the Impressionists and share the importance of capturing light and color, using broken brush strokes and spots of thick color creating an exceptional impression of the subject.

There was sun shining on it so I put yellow in it."
